Product Overview

The Radian Raptor-SD is a gas-deflecting ambidextrous charging handle for AR-15 and M4 rifles, machined from 7075 aluminium and fitting any Mil-Spec AR-15/M4 upper receiver.

The Raptor built for suppressed and gas-heavy rifles — a ported shaft vents gas away from your face while keeping every advantage of the original.

The Radian Raptor-SD adds a gas-deflecting, vented shaft to the Raptor ambidextrous charging handle. Running suppressed or on a short gas system dumps blowback straight back through a standard handle and into your eyes; the SD redirects it forward and away. You keep the true dual-lever, charge-from-either-side design and the 7075 aluminium toughness, with a meaningful comfort and clarity gain behind a can.

On a UK straight-pull AR-15 the charging handle is worked by hand for every shot, which makes it the most-used control on the rifle — and the one that punishes a weak design fastest. Dual levers let you cycle with either hand without breaking your firing grip, and the gas deflection keeps fouling out of your face on a rifle whose action you are opening constantly.

What the Raptor-SD fits

Drops into any Mil-Spec AR-15/M4-pattern upper receiver exactly like the factory handle — no fitting, no tools required and no permanent changes. It suits suppressed and short-gas-system builds particularly well, and goes straight into UK straight-pull uppers built to the same pattern. If you are unsure which pattern your upper receiver is, contact us with details of the rifle before ordering. The same vented shaft comes in a lower profile as the Raptor-SD-SL and with the newer latch as the Raptor-SD 45/90; for AR-10 and SR25-pattern rifles order the Raptor-SD for AR-10 / 7.62 instead.

Will the Raptor-SD fit my rifle?

What does the gas-deflecting shaft actually do?

The shaft is vented so that gas coming back through the upper is pushed forward and away rather than straight into your face. That matters most on suppressed rifles and short gas systems, which send far more blowback back through a standard handle. On a UK straight-pull AR-15 you open the action by hand on every shot, so you meet that gas far more often than most shooters do.

How does it compare with the standard Raptor?

The standard Raptor gives you the same true dual-lever ambidextrous charging and the same 7075 aluminium body, but without the vented shaft. Take the SD if you shoot suppressed or run a short gas system; if you don’t, the standard Raptor does the same job for less. The SD is offered in Black, Flat Dark Earth, OD Green and Radian Grey, and sits alongside the rest in charging handles and safety selectors.

Is fitting straightforward?

Yes — it’s a drop-in swap. The factory handle comes out and the Raptor-SD goes in exactly the same way, with no permanent changes to the rifle and no tools beyond your hands. Nothing on the upper receiver needs modifying to take it, so run a few dry strokes afterwards and it’s done.
