The Radian Raptor-SD 7.62 is a gas-deflecting ambidextrous charging handle for AR-10, SR25 and 7.62/.308 rifles, machined from 7075 aluminium and fitting large-frame AR-10/SR25-pattern upper receivers.

The Radian Raptor-SD for 7.62 pairs the vented, gas-deflecting shaft with the correct dimensions for large-frame AR-10 / SR25-pattern rifles. Running a .308 suppressed pushes serious blowback back through a standard handle; the SD redirects it forward and away, while the true dual-lever design gives ambidextrous charging and 7075 aluminium toughness for big-bore bolt mass.

On a UK straight-pull large-frame rifle the charging handle is worked by hand on every shot, making it the most-used control on the gun and the one moving the heaviest mass. Dual levers let you cycle with either hand without breaking your firing grip, and the vented shaft keeps gas and fouling away from your face on an action you are opening constantly.

Will the Raptor-SD 7.62 fit my rifle?

It drops into AR-10 / SR25-pattern (7.62 / .308) upper receivers exactly like the factory handle, with no tools required. It is not compatible with AR-15 uppers, which use a smaller receiver. Large-frame patterns vary between manufacturers, so contact us with the make and model if your rifle is an unusual build.

What does the gas-deflecting shaft do?

The shaft is vented so gas travelling back through the upper is pushed forward and away from your face rather than into it. Running a .308 suppressed sends a lot of blowback back through a standard handle, which is exactly the problem the SD is built for. On a UK straight-pull large-frame rifle you open the action by hand on every shot, so you meet that gas far more often than most shooters do.

How does it compare with the plain Raptor for 7.62?

The difference is the vented shaft. The plain Raptor for 7.62 gives you the same true dual-lever ambidextrous charging and the same 7075 aluminium build without it, so take the SD if you shoot suppressed or run a short gas system and the plain version if you don’t. Both are supplied in black and both sit within our AR-10 and LR-308 parts range.

Is fitting straightforward?
