The Radian Raptor-SD 45/90 is a gas-deflecting ambidextrous charging handle for AR-15 and M4 rifles, machined from 7075 aluminium and fitting any Mil-Spec AR-15/M4 upper receiver.

The latest Raptor — a gas-deflecting charging handle with a redesigned 45/90 latch geometry for an even more positive, over-built stroke.

The Radian Raptor-SD 45/90 is Radian Weapons' newest charging-handle evolution, combining the gas-deflecting vented shaft with an updated latch design for a crisper, more positive engagement. It keeps everything that made the Raptor a benchmark — true ambidextrous dual-lever charging, 7075 aluminium construction, suppressed-build blowback control — and refines the mechanics.

That refinement pays off most on a UK straight-pull AR-15, where the action is cycled by hand for every shot and the charging handle becomes the busiest control on the rifle. A crisper latch means a cleaner unlock every stroke, dual levers let you cycle with either hand without breaking your firing grip, and the vented shaft keeps gas out of your face on an action you are opening constantly.

What is the 45/90 latch about?

It is an updated latch geometry that engages more crisply and unlocks more positively than the earlier Raptor latch — the main change over the standard SD. The vented, gas-deflecting shaft is carried over, so suppressed blowback is still pushed forward and away from your face. On a UK straight-pull AR-15 that cleaner unlock is felt on every shot, because the handle is worked by hand every time.

How does it compare with the other Raptor handles?

The plain Raptor-SD has the same vented shaft and the same true ambidextrous dual levers but the earlier latch design, so this is the newer mechanism rather than a different concept. The standard Raptor is the choice if you don’t shoot suppressed and want five finishes to pick from; this one is supplied in black. All of them sit in charging handles and safety selectors.

Is fitting straightforward?

Yes — it’s a drop-in swap with no tools beyond your hands. The factory handle comes out and the Raptor-SD 45/90 goes in exactly the same way, with nothing on the upper receiver needing modification. Work the action a few times dry afterwards so you know how the new latch feels before you shoot it.
