The SureFire SR07 is a remote switch for SureFire WeaponLights: a momentary-on pressure pad and a constant-on push-button on a snap-on Picatinny clamp, with a cable of approximately 7 in (17.8 cm).
A light you cannot reach without breaking your grip may as well not be fitted. This puts the switch where your support hand already is.
The pad and button sit together on a clamp that snaps onto a Picatinny rail section, so the switch can be positioned along the handguard wherever the support hand naturally sits and moved again later. Pressing the pad gives momentary light; the push-button holds it on. The cable is approximately 7 in long, which is enough to reach forward from a rear-mounted light or back from a forward one without loops of slack to snag.
SureFire lists the SR07 for its Millennium Universal and Classic Universal lights, for Scout Lights fitted with a socketed tailcap, and for the X200, X300 and X400 with an XT tailcap — in practice, any SureFire WeaponLight with a switch socket. That last point is the one that catches people out: this is the pad on its own, and a bare Scout Light with a standard click tailcap has nowhere to plug it in. Fit a remote-capable tailcap first, or buy a kit that includes one.

What the SR07 fits
It needs a rail section to clamp to and a light with a switch socket to plug into. On a Scout Light that means a socketed tailcap rather than the standard click cap — the Z68 click-type tailcap is the plain cap, so check what is on the back of your light before ordering. If you want momentary only in a slimmer package, the ST07 tape switch is the alternative, and the SR07-D-IT is the intensity-toggling version. More sit in weapon light accessories.
