The Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount VIR Pro, part 88138, is a dual-spectrum long gun light that pairs a white LED with an integrated 940 nm infrared illuminator on the same body.
Two beams, one head, one selector. Turn the collar and the light goes from lighting the field for your eyes to lighting it for an image intensifier, with a cut-off that stops the white side firing by accident while you are on infrared.
White output steps 1100, 540 and 120 lumens, giving 40,000, 19,000 and 4,200 candela and beam distances of 400, 276 and 130 metres. Infrared runs 2,300 mW on high and 600 mW on low. Two CR123A lithium cells power it, and the light is compatible with Streamlight's SL-B26 pack; on primaries the white runtimes are 1.5 hours high, 2.75 medium and 11 low, and the infrared runs 1.25 hours high and 7.25 low. The body is 6000-series anodised aluminium behind a BOROFLOAT lens, 5.65 in long and 8.2 oz with CR123A cells fitted.
It carries a Jack-Cap tailcap, so it works from the push-button on the rear or from a remote pressure switch put where the support hand sits, and it mounts to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny or M-LOK. Sealing is worth reading carefully rather than skimming: IPX7 with the push-button fitted, dropping to IPX4 when the remote switch is in place instead. If you have no night-vision equipment the infrared side is simply invisible to you and does nothing — at 940 nm there is no visible glow to work with.

What the VIR Pro fits
It takes a MIL-STD-1913 rail section or an M-LOK slot directly, which covers most modern handguards — our M-LOK versus Picatinny guide explains which is which, and Picatinny rail sections and M-LOK accessories cover the gaps. If you would rather have the rechargeable pack in the box, that is the VIR Pro USB, part 88139. For white light only, look at the ProTac Rail Mount HL-X Pro.
