The Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1L-X USB (89027) is a compact long gun light supplied with the SL-B9 USB rechargeable battery pack and charging cord.
The rechargeable pack is what the USB in the name buys: 850 lumens and 30,000 candela straight out of the box, where the primary-cell version of the same light runs 500.
The body is 6000-series machined aircraft aluminium, black anodised, 4.64 in (11.79 cm) long and 5.22 oz with the SL-B9 fitted or 5.12 oz on a CR123A cell. It is rated IP67 — one metre for thirty minutes — with the tail switch in place, and mounts directly to MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny with an M-LOK mount also supplied. A push-button tail switch handles activation, and TEN-TAP programming sets the order of the modes.
On the SL-B9 pack the light gives 850 lumens, 30,000 candela and a 346 metre beam for half an hour, or 100 lumens, 3,400 candela and 117 metres for four and a half hours on low; strobe runs an hour and a quarter. Dropping in a CR123A lithium cell gives 500 lumens, 18,000 candela and 268 metres for one and three quarter hours, with the same 100 lumen low lasting six and a half. Worth planning around: the headline 850 lumens is the rechargeable figure and it is a thirty minute figure, so carry a spare cell for a long night.
