The Holosun HS407C X3 (HS407C-X3-RD) is a 1x open-emitter sight with a single 2 MOA red dot on the Holosun 507C footprint, which follows the Trijicon RMR pattern.
Third generation of the full-size pistol optic, and the change that matters is where the light sensor looks: forward, at the target, not backwards at the shooter.
The 7075-T6 aluminium housing is rated IP67 and weighs 1.55 oz, with a 0.91 x 0.67 in window and a 650 nm emitter. A CR1632 cell loads from the side of the housing, so it can be replaced with the sight still bolted down and zeroed, and Holosun rates it for 50,000 hours at setting six. Solar Failsafe draws supplemental power from ambient light, Shake Awake sleeps the reticle when the gun is still, and Lock Mode prevents accidental setting changes.
Shooting from a covered firing point out into bright ground is exactly the case that defeats a rear-facing sensor: the optic reads the shade you are standing in and dims itself for a target sitting in sunlight. Facing the sensor forward fixes that. The reticle is a single 2 MOA dot with nothing around it, adjusted in 1 MOA clicks across plus or minus 50 MOA, and twelve brightness settings run from eight daylight levels down to four that work behind night vision.
Why shooters choose the HS407C X3
-
Reticle — single 2 MOA red dot from a 650 nm emitter
-
Sensor — forward-facing, so brightness matches the light on the target
-
Footprint — Holosun 507C, the Trijicon RMR pattern
-
Power — side-loading CR1632 with Solar Failsafe, 50,000 hours at setting six
-
Illumination — 8 daylight and 4 night vision settings, plus Shake Awake and Lock Mode
-
Housing — 7075-T6 aluminium, IP67 rated, 1.55 oz
What the HS407C X3 fits
RMR-cut slides, mounts and optics-ready hosts supplied with an RMR-pattern plate — not RMSc-cut ones. The gold-reticle version of the same sight is the HS407C X3 in gold, the previous generation is the HS407C X2, and a 6 MOA competition body is the HS407COMP.
