The Holosun HM3X is a 3x magnifier supplied on an ambidextrous quick-detach flip-to-side mount, made to sit behind a red dot or holographic sight.
Swung in it gives you 3x for identifying what you are looking at; swung out it is gone and the dot is back at 1x, and neither movement touches your zero.
The body is aluminium in a black finish, 4 in overall and 9.8 oz (278 g) with its mount, and Holosun rates it IP67 and nitrogen-purged rather than merely weather-resistant. The mount is quick-detach and ambidextrous, and a spacer in the box switches it between absolute and lower 1/3 co-witness height.
Eye relief is 70 mm (2.75 in) across a 7 degree field of view, which is the most forgiving eye box in Holosun’s magnifier range and the reason most shooters take 3x over 6x. A dioptre adjustable through ±3D sharpens the picture for your eye, and windage and elevation adjust in 0.5 MOA clicks through ±50 MOA of travel so the dot can be centred in the view. Holosun quotes a 7.6 mm exit pupil rather than an objective diameter, so no objective figure is given here. Remember the magnifier has no reticle of its own — it only enlarges what the sight in front of it projects.
