Nothing reaches the emitter. A sealed window is the difference between a dot that survives a wet British winter on a rifle kept outdoors and one that dims behind a film of rain and grit.
The housing is 6061 aluminium, hard anodised, rated IPX8 and tested to 1000G of vibration resistance, and the optic weighs 4.3 oz (123 g). Power comes from a CR2032 in a side-loading tray with Solar Failsafe topping it up in daylight, rated at up to 50,000 hours, and Shake Awake wakes the dot when the rifle moves. Clicks are 0.5 MOA with 50 MOA of travel either side of centre.
Twelve brightness levels split into eight for daylight and four that work behind night vision, and auto-brightness will set the level for you while Lockout Mode stops it being knocked. Green is a deliberate choice here: human vision peaks in that part of the spectrum, so a green dot usually reads brighter than a red one at the same power draw. Both a 1.63 in (41 mm) lower-1/3 mount and a 1.05 in low mount are supplied, so the height decision is made on the bench rather than at the checkout. There is only one reticle, though, with no circle to switch to.
