The Holosun AEMS PRO X2 Gold Dot Sight, part AEMS-PRO-X2-GD, is a full-size enclosed-emitter rifle sight running a 590 nm gold reticle behind a 1.1 x 0.87 in (28 x 22 mm) rectangular window.
Gold sits between red and green on the spectrum and reads as a warmer, softer point against snow, sand and pale winter sky, where a red dot can wash out and a green one can glare.
The reticle is Holosun's Multi-Reticle System: a 2 MOA dot on its own, a 65 MOA circle on its own, or the two together. Windage and elevation move in 0.5 MOA per click with 50 MOA of travel each way. A CR2032 sits behind Solar Failsafe and Shake Awake for a rated 50,000 hours, brightness runs across 12 settings — eight for daylight and four for night vision — and a forward-facing sensor reads the light downrange rather than the light behind your head. The housing is 7075-T6 aluminium, hard anodised and rated IPX8 for submersion; Holosun give the optic at 4.3 oz and the supplied mount at 6.1 oz.
An enclosed emitter is the argument for this sight over an open one. Rain running down a rifle, mud thrown off a bipod and dust off a dry range all land somewhere on an open optic's LED eventually, and when they do the reticle dims or disappears. Here the emitter is sealed inside the tube and nothing gets to it. The PRO X2 optical system also cuts parallax by up to half against the original AEMS, so the dot stays closer to where you think it is when your head is off centre behind the rifle. It ships on a lower 1/3 co-witness Picatinny mount with an ARD fitted and a clear insert in the box if you would rather run without the honeycomb.

What the AEMS PRO X2 Gold fits
It arrives on a lower 1/3 co-witness Picatinny mount, which sits it above AR-height iron sights on any MIL-STD-1913 rail, so a straight-pull AR-pattern carbine or a railed practical shotgun takes it as supplied. The same optic is built with a red reticle and a green reticle, and if the full-size window is more than you need the AEMS Micro in gold is the smaller housing. See our optic mount height guide if you plan to change the deck height.
