The EOTech EXPS3-0TAN is a 1x holographic weapon sight in a Tan housing, showing a 68 MOA ring around a single 1 MOA red aiming dot.
This is the night-vision member of the EXPS family. Ten brightness levels sit below the daylight range so the reticle can be dimmed to something a night-vision device will tolerate.
The housing is finished in Tan, weighs 11.2 oz and is sealed to 33 ft (10 m) of water. Power comes from a single CR123 lithium cell rated at 1,000 continuous hours, and the sight clamps to a 1in Weaver or MIL-STD-1913 rail with its own integrated quick-detach lever. Windage and elevation move in 0.5 MOA steps. It is made in the USA.
The reason to run a holographic sight rather than a reflex dot is the reticle: a large ring for close, fast work and a fine 1 MOA dot for the deliberate shot, both delivered with no parallax to correct. The buttons sit on the side of the body rather than the rear, which leaves room behind the sight for a flip-to-side magnifier. The trade is battery life and mass — a holographic sight draws more current and weighs more than a micro red dot, and EOTech does not publish a total adjustment range for it.
