The SIG Sauer ROMEO8T in Flat Dark Earth is a full-size 1x enclosed red dot sight with a 38 mm clear aperture and a ballistic circle-dot reticle offering four selectable patterns.
This is a sight built to be dropped, rained on and left switched on for a year, which is why the emitter is sealed and the shroud over it is titanium.
The body is 7075-T6 aluminium with a removable titanium shroud, rated IPX-8 and weighing 13.7 oz (388 g). Illumination has 13 settings, ten for daylight and three for night vision, managed by SIG's MOTAC motion activation, which wakes the reticle on movement and sleeps it when the rifle is still — SIG rates the CR123A cell for over 100,000 hours. Adjustment is 0.5 MOA per click with 100 MOA of total travel in elevation and the same in windage. It mounts on its own hex bolt mount at a 1.535 in mount height.
An enclosed emitter is worth the extra bulk on a rifle that lives outdoors: nothing can settle in front of the LED and wash the reticle out. The four selectable reticles cover a plain dot through to circle-dot patterns with holdovers, so one sight suits both fast close work and a longer shot. Bear in mind that at 13.7 oz with the shroud fitted this is not a lightweight micro, and the shroud can be removed if you want the weight back.
