Machined from billet 7075 aluminium with a Type III hardcoat anodised finish, the 1.93 DOT Mount attaches to any M1913 Picatinny rail. A spring-loaded nitrided 4140 steel clamp and mounting bolt sit flush with the body for a low-profile, anti-snag shape, and the whole mount weighs 55 g (1.9 oz).
1.93in is the modern height. It brings the dot up to a head-up firing position instead of asking you to bury your cheek on the stock, which is easier to hold over a long deliberate string and gives clearance for eye protection, a helmet or night vision. Height and footprint are fixed: 1.93in optical axis, Aimpoint Micro footprint. At 1.93in your standard AR-15 back-up iron sights will sit below the optic window rather than co-witnessing in it, so treat irons as a separate sighting system at this height. If you want the co-witness, the 39mm lower 1/3 version is the same mount lower down.
