The CQG (Close Quarters Grip) was drawn around the way a modern carbine is actually held. The steep vertical angle rolls the wrist forward into a natural, strong position behind the pistol grip, which is what you want on a short rifle held high and tight rather than an A2 rifle shot from a bench.

The enhanced beavertail seats the web of the hand higher against the receiver, closing the gap behind the trigger guard and shortening the reach to the trigger. Front and rear anti-slip texturing keeps the grip planted in gloves or wet hands, and the toughened reinforced nylon moulding takes knocks without the surface polish that makes cheaper grips slick.
