The Magpul STR is a mil-spec collapsible carbine stock with onboard battery storage for AR-15 and M4 rifles, fitting any Mil-Spec-diameter receiver extension.

CTR stability plus onboard storage — the STR is the carbine stock for shooters who want everything locked down.

The Magpul STR (Storage/Type Restricted, MAG470) starts with the CTR's celebrated friction-lock system — clamping the stock rigid against the receiver extension for zero wobble — then adds a wider cheek weld and two water-resistant battery storage tubes in the butt. Optic batteries, spare parts and small essentials ride in the rifle itself, protected from the weather and always where you left them.

The broader body also deepens the cheek weld surface, giving a fuller, more supportive reference for precision work behind magnified glass. A rubber buttpad, ambidextrous sling options and QD compatibility complete a stock that turns up on duty and competition rifles alike.

Does the STR fit a standard carbine build?

It fits AR-15/M4 rifles with a Mil-Spec-diameter carbine receiver extension, which covers most current builds. It will not fit commercial-diameter tubes, so confirm your buffer tube specification before ordering. Fitting is the usual stock swap on the tube, with no permanent alteration.

What does the dual friction lock give me?

The STR clamps against the buffer tube at two points once the length is set, which takes out the play a plain carbine stock has. The result is a firmer, quieter stock that holds its cheek weld under recoil. You release the lock to change length, then re-set it.

What's in the battery tubes?

The STR has two water-resistant storage tubes in the body, sized for carrying spares in the stock rather than loose in a pocket. They're sealed against the weather, which matters if the rifle lives in a slip or gets used in the wet. The stock arrives with the tubes fitted and ready to use.

STR or CTR, and which colour?

The CTR is the lighter, simpler stock with a single friction lock and no storage, while the STR adds the second lock and the battery tubes for a little more weight.
