Product Overview

The Magpul CTR is a mil-spec collapsible carbine stock for AR-15 and M4 rifles, fitting any Mil-Spec-diameter receiver extension.

The carbine stock that professionals default to — the CTR kills wobble and gives you the same cheek weld every single time.

The Magpul CTR (Compact/Type Restricted, MAG310) is built around one mechanical idea executed perfectly: a supplemental friction lock that clamps the stock body hard against the receiver extension, eliminating the rattle and play that plague standard collapsible stocks. The result is a rock-solid cheek weld that behaves like a fixed stock, from a unit that still adjusts instantly across the buffer tube's positions.

The A-frame profile sheds weight and snags, the rubber buttpad locks into the shoulder, and sling integration is comprehensive — including a standard QD socket point. It is the stock you see on duty rifles and serious training carbines for a simple reason: it removes variables, and consistent shooting is built on removed variables.

Why shooters choose the CTR

  • Supplemental friction lock — zero wobble, fixed-stock stability
  • Repeatable cheek weld — the same sight picture every mount
  • Slim A-frame profile — light, snag-free, fast handling
  • Rubber buttpad — plants in the shoulder pocket, protects the stock
  • Four finishes — Black, Flat Dark Earth, Olive Drab Green, Modified Coyote Brown

What the CTR fits

Fits AR-15/M4 rifles running a Mil-Spec-diameter carbine receiver extension (buffer tube), which is the common standard on most current builds. Commercial-diameter tubes are slightly larger and will not take this version, so check your buffer tube specification before ordering. Fitting is the usual stock swap — depress the lever, seat the stock, then engage the friction lock and feel the difference immediately.

Product Questions

Will the CTR fit my carbine?
It fits AR-15/M4 rifles running a Mil-Spec-diameter carbine receiver extension, which is the common commercial standard on most builds. Commercial-diameter tubes are slightly larger and won't take this version, so measure or check the specification of your buffer tube before ordering. If you're unsure which you have, get in touch with details of the rifle before ordering.
What does the friction lock do?
The CTR adds a supplemental friction lock on top of the usual adjustment latch, which clamps the stock against the buffer tube once you've set your length. That takes out the rattle you get from a plain carbine stock, so the cheek weld stays consistent shot to shot. You release it to move the stock, then re-set it once you're happy with the length of pull.
How does it compare with the STR?
The CTR is the simpler and lighter of the two, giving you the friction lock and a clean profile without extra bulk. The STR adds water-resistant battery storage tubes and a dual friction lock for shooters who want to carry spares in the stock. If you don't need onboard storage, the CTR does the core job.
Which colour should I go for, and is fitting straightforward?
Black, Flat Dark Earth, Olive Drab Green and Modified Coyote Brown are offered, all in the same reinforced polymer. Swapping stocks on a carbine tube is ordinary fitting work: the old stock comes off the tube and the CTR goes on in its place, with no permanent changes. For a wider comparison, see our guide to choosing an AR-15 stock.
How will it arrive?
Stocks are sent from the United Kingdom with £5 tracked UK delivery in 7–10 business days, and you'll get tracking by email when it ships. If a part turns out to be the wrong fit, see our returns policy or contact us and we'll help sort it.
