The Magpul SGA Stock for Mossberg 500/590/590A1 (MAG490) replaces the factory stock with a purpose-engineered design built around adjustable fit. Spacer-based length-of-pull adjustment tailors the stock to your build and your outerwear — shorter for armour or winter kit, longer for slighter frames in shirtsleeves — while the recoil-reducing buttpad takes the sting out of full-power 12-gauge loads.

The grip geometry is closer to vertical than a traditional field stock, giving better trigger control and a more natural wrist angle for defensive and working guns. Reinforced polymer construction, optional cheek risers for optics and sling mounting points complete a stock that turns a rattly factory pump into a fitted tool.

Why fit an SGA instead of the standard stock?

The SGA is a conventional, fixed shotgun stock rather than a pistol-grip design, so it keeps the familiar handling of a sporting shotgun while adding proper adjustability. Length of pull is set with spacers, which lets you tune the fit to your build and to whether you shoot in a jacket or light clothing. A cushioned buttpad takes the edge off 12 gauge recoil during longer sessions.

How does the spacer system work?

Spacers fit between the stock body and the buttpad, so you add or remove them to lengthen or shorten the pull. The usual method is to start short, then add spacers until the gun mounts cleanly without you having to reach or crowd the comb. Removing the buttpad to change spacers is an ordinary fitting job, not gunsmithing.
