The vertical foregrip refined to essentials — slim, canted and shaped for control rather than show.

The Magpul RVG Rail Vertical Grip (MAG412) is not just a post bolted to a rail. Its subtly swelled profile and forward cant are designed around the modern low-and-back support-hand hold: use it as a full grip, a hand stop or an index reference, and the geometry supports all three. Reinforced polymer construction keeps weight negligible while the TSP texture keeps wet or gloved hands exactly where you put them.

Pulling the RVG rearward into the magazine well locks the rifle into the shoulder and flattens muzzle rise during rapid strings — the technique the grip was actually shaped for. It mounts to any 1913 Picatinny rail and, unlike aluminium posts, will not chew your gear or transmit cold in winter.

Will the RVG fit my handguard?

The RVG clamps directly to any 1913 Picatinny rail section, so it will go onto a quad rail or onto a short rail ladder fitted to a free-float tube. If your handguard is M-LOK rather than Picatinny you will need to add an M-LOK Picatinny rail section first, as the RVG has no M-LOK interface of its own. What does a straight vertical grip like this give me over an angled one?

A vertical foregrip gives you something positive to pull back into the shoulder with, which helps steady the rifle when you are shooting standing or from awkward positions. The MAG412 keeps that shape simple and short rather than adding a bulky hand stop or storage core. If you prefer to keep the wrist straight and drive the rifle from behind the handguard, an angled grip such as the AFG range suits that style better.

What is it made from and does it need any tools?

It is moulded from reinforced polymer, so it adds very little weight for its size and does not conduct heat from the barrel the way an aluminium grip can. Fitting is a matter of sliding or clamping it onto the rail and tightening the fastener with a common hand tool. Snug it up firmly and re-check the fastener after your first range session, as new polymer parts can settle slightly.

Which colour should I go for and do I need anything else?

The MAG412 is offered in Black, Flat Dark Earth and Olive Drab Green, so you can either match existing Magpul furniture or deliberately contrast it.
