The Holosun ARO EVO Dual is an enclosed-emitter rifle red dot with a visible green laser and an infrared laser built into the same housing, running the Multi-Reticle System behind a 26 mm window.
A separate laser module hangs off the rail somewhere below and to one side of the sight, and every one of those offsets has to be dialled out. Building both lasers into the optic on a coaxial alignment system removes that geometry problem instead of solving it.
Holosun specify the green laser at under 5 mW, 520 nm and Class 3R, and the infrared laser at under 0.7 mW, 850 nm and Class 1. The reticle switches between a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA circle and both together, across 12 brightness settings — eight daylight and four for use with night vision — adjusting 0.5 MOA per click with ±50 MOA of travel. The housing is 7075-T6 aluminium rated IPX8, and Holosun list the optic at 8.15 oz with a 2.45 oz mount. A dual-button pressure pad on a crane plug is supplied.
Power is a single CR123A backed by Solar Failsafe and Shake Awake, and the runtime figures tell you how to use it: Holosun quote 300,000 hours for the dot at setting 6, but only 50 hours for the IR laser and 12 hours for the green one. The lasers are the thing you switch on for a moment and off again, not the thing you leave running, and the sealed emitter means rain and mud cannot blank the reticle while you do it.
Why shooters choose the ARO EVO Dual
-
Reticle — Multi-Reticle System — 2 MOA dot, 65 MOA circle, or circle-dot
-
Green laser — under 5 mW at 520 nm, Class 3R
-
IR laser — under 0.7 mW at 850 nm, Class 1, for use with a night vision device
-
Alignment — coaxial system, so the lasers share the optic's axis rather than sitting off to one side
-
Runtime — 300,000 hours for the dot at setting 6, against 50 hours IR and 12 hours green
-
Build — 7075-T6 aluminium, IPX8, 8.15 oz for the optic and 2.45 oz for the mount
What the ARO EVO Dual fits
It comes as an optic and mount together for a Picatinny rail, and the supplied crane plug pressure pad wants somewhere on the handguard to sit — an M-LOK accessory panel or a short Picatinny rail section usually solves that. If you want the same 26 mm enclosed sight without the lasers, take the ARO EVO 2 MOA, or the ARO EVO SPR for a ranging reticle.
