The EOTech XPS2-1 is a 1x holographic weapon sight with a bare 1 MOA red dot and no surrounding ring, clamped to the rail by a 1in Weaver or MIL-STD-1913 cross-bolt.
Take the 68 MOA ring away and what is left is the smallest aiming mark EOTech make, in the largest amount of clear window they can give it — which is exactly what you want if the sight spends most of its life behind a magnifier.
The body weighs 9.0 oz (255 g) and is made in the USA, sealed against submersion to 10 ft (3 m). A single CR123 cell lies transversely across the front of the hood, giving up to 1,000 hours of continuous use, and windage and elevation adjust in 0.5 MOA clicks. The cross-bolt clamp is a fixed fitting rather than a lever, so it is tightened once and left alone.
A ringless reticle suits deliberate shooting: at distance a 1 MOA dot covers very little of the target, and behind a 3x magnifier the ring of a standard EOTech would fill an uncomfortable amount of the magnified picture. The trade is real and worth stating — without the ring, close-range pickup is slower, because there is less for the eye to catch when the rifle comes up in a hurry. This is also a daylight-only sight, with 20 daylight settings and nothing dim enough for night vision.
