The EOTech EXPS3-DCR is a 1x holographic weapon sight on the EXPS3 chassis, built around the Danger Close Reticle, which EOTech describes as a 68 MOA ring with a cutout at the top and a chevron at the bottom.
That cutout is the whole idea: it opens the top of the ring so the target is not hidden behind glowing reticle at close range, while the chevron below gives a precise tip to aim with when the shot stretches out.
Brightness runs to 20 daylight settings plus 10 that are dim enough to work behind a night vision device, and windage and elevation adjust in 0.5 MOA clicks. Power is a single CR123 lithium cell. The sight clamps to a Picatinny rail on its own integrated quick-detach lever, and the housing is sealed for immersion to 10 m (33 ft).
The EXPS3 is the version with the controls on the left side of the body rather than the rear, so a flip-to-side magnifier can sit hard up behind it without covering the buttons. Holography gives an unlimited eye box, so the reticle stays usable even when the head is not perfectly behind the glass. The limitation is the same one every holographic sight has: the CR123 runs the sight and there is no solar backup, so it is worth carrying a spare cell.
