The EOTech EXPS2-2 is a 1x holographic weapon sight whose reticle is a 68 MOA speed ring around two stacked 1 MOA red dots, running from a single transverse CR123 cell.
The second dot is the whole argument for this model. It gives a fixed holdover reference that is always there, always the same distance below the primary aiming point, and costs nothing in window clutter compared with holding the bottom of the ring on a target.
EOTech build it at 3.8 x 2.3 x 2.9in and 11.2 oz (317.5g) in the USA, with an integral quick-detach lever that clamps to a 1in Weaver or MIL-STD-1913 rail without tools. Windage and elevation move in 0.5 MOA clicks. The CR123 sits across the front of the hood rather than under it, which is what keeps the EXPS body short, and EOTech rate it at 1,000 continuous hours at setting 12. Submersion is rated to 10 ft (3 m).
Holographic reticles are worth the battery draw because they stay parallax-free and usable through a window that is scratched, cracked or partly obscured, and because the ring gets the eye onto a close target faster than a bare dot does. The limitation to be clear about is illumination: the EXPS2-2 has 20 daylight settings and no night-vision settings at all, so it will bloom badly behind an image intensifier. If you need to run it under night vision, the EXPS3 body is the one to buy.
