The Daniel Defense Omega Rail 7.0 is a drop-in free-float quad Picatinny handguard for AR-15 and M4 rifles with a carbine-length gas system, fitted with the supplied Allen wrench and no modification to the rifle.
A free-float rail you can fit at the kitchen table — no barrel nut change, no gunsmithing, no special tools.
Most free-float rails mean pulling the barrel nut and replacing it, which is the step that sends the job to a gunsmith. The Omega Rail does not: Daniel Defense designed it so the individual operator can install it with the provided Allen wrench, requiring zero modification to the weapon. No barrel nut is supplied because none is needed.
What you get for that is a genuine free-float tube — nothing touches the barrel, so a bipod, a sling under tension or hard support-hand pressure no longer moves your point of impact. That matters most to exactly the shooter this rail suits: a UK straight-pull AR-15 owner working the rifle by hand and shooting deliberately from a bipod, a bag or a barricade. The upper rail platform stays uninterrupted so the optic and any backup sights sit on one plane, and there is an integral QD sling swivel mount with a rotation limiter built into the rail.
It is CNC machined from aircraft-grade aluminium and Military Specification Type III hard-coat anodised, and all fasteners are to military specification. At 7.6 oz (215 g) for a full quad rail it is light for what it is.
Why shooters choose the Omega Rail 7.0
-
Drop-in installation — fits with the supplied Allen wrench and requires zero modification to the rifle
-
No barrel nut change — the step that normally makes a free-float rail a gunsmith job is not required
-
True free float — the barrel is untouched by the handguard, so support pressure does not shift zero
-
Integral QD sling swivel mount — with a rotation limiter, so the sling point cannot spin under load
-
Uninterrupted upper rail — optic, magnifier and backup sights share one continuous plane
-
7.6 oz (215 g) — light for a full-length quad Picatinny rail
What the Omega Rail 7.0 fits
Fits AR-15/M4 rifles with a carbine-length gas system, including UK straight-pull AR-15 builds. Rail length is 6.88" (175 mm) and inside diameter is 1.08" (27 mm), so the tube has to clear your gas block along its full length — measure from the receiver face to the front of the block first, and note that a standard front sight base will not pass through a 1.08" bore. No barrel nut is supplied and none is needed. If your rifle runs mid-length gas, take the Daniel Defense Omega Rail 9.0 instead, which is the same rail at 8.88".
