The Daniel Defense GRIP-N-RIP is an ambidextrous charging handle for AR-15 and M4 rifles, with anti-gas geometry that redirects gas flow upward and away from the shooter's face.
Independently ambidextrous — each handle works the latch on its own, so it does not matter which side your hand comes from.
Most so-called ambidextrous charging handles have one latch and a second lever that pokes it. The GRIP-N-RIP is independently ambidextrous: each handle operates the latch on its own, which means the same firm, single-handed pull whichever side you reach from, and no dead travel while one side pushes the other.
The anti-gas design redirects gas flow upward and away from the operator's face, which is what makes it suitable for suppressed fire, where the gas that comes back through the receiver has to go somewhere. The handles themselves are enlarged and ergonomic, machined from 6061-T6 aluminium with Type III hard-coat anodising; the main body is 7075-T6 with the same finish; the latch is 6061-T6; and everything is pinned with heavy-duty stainless steel roll pins. It weighs 1.3 oz (37 g) and is made in the USA.
On a UK straight-pull AR-15 the charging handle stops being an occasional control and becomes the working control — it is pulled for every single shot. An enlarged, genuinely ambidextrous handle that can be worked hard from either side is not a nice-to-have on this rifle; it is the part your hand spends the most time on.
Why shooters choose the GRIP-N-RIP
-
Independently ambidextrous — each handle operates the latch on its own, so either hand gets the same pull
-
Anti-gas geometry — redirects gas upward and away from the face, which suits suppressed fire
-
Enlarged ergonomic handles — 6061-T6 aluminium, Type III hard-coat anodised
-
7075-T6 main body — the stronger alloy where the load actually goes
-
Heavy-duty stainless steel roll pins — the joints on a charging handle are what fail first
-
1.3 oz (37 g) — made in the USA
What the GRIP-N-RIP fits
Fits AR-15 pattern rifles, including UK straight-pull AR-15 builds, and drops into the upper receiver in place of the standard charging handle with no modification. This is the AR-15 part in black, 04-013-03252-006. Daniel Defense makes a separate 7.62 version of the GRIP-N-RIP for DD5 GEN II V3, V4 and V5 rifles and DPMS Gen 1 AR-10 rifles, which is a different part number — an AR-10 or .308 upper needs that one, not this. Fitting is the usual charging handle swap: retract the bolt carrier group, withdraw the old handle, and slide this one in.
