Product Overview

The BCM QRF is a free-float quad rail handguard for AR-15 and M4 rifles, with integral 1913 Picatinny rail machined into all four faces.

Every face is a rail, and the barrel still floats — the QRF is the quad rail for shooters who never wanted to give up rigidity to get mounting space.

The QRF (Quad Rail Free Float) is machined from a single billet of 6061-T6 aluminium with the Picatinny rail cut into the extrusion rather than bolted on, then hard-coat anodised to Mil-A-8625F Type III Class 2. BCM's proprietary profile adds cross-sectional strength where a thin-walled quad rail would flex, and the same steel barrel nut used across the KMR, MCMR and QRF series resists movement as the barrel heats.

Free-float construction is the point. A traditional quad rail that hangs off the front sight base transmits every sling load and bipod load straight into the barrel; the QRF does not touch the barrel at all. For a UK straight-pull AR-15 — a rifle that lives on a bipod, a bag or a barricade and is asked for one accurate shot at a time — that isolation is worth more than any other change to the front end.

Continuous rail at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock means the QRF takes anything with a Picatinny clamp without adapters: lights, lasers, vertical and angled grips, bipods, backup sights, night vision. Rail panels or covers make the unused faces comfortable in the hand.

Why shooters choose the QRF

  • Free-float quad rail — full Picatinny coverage without loading the barrel
  • Rail machined into the extrusion — no bolted-on sections to shift or shoot loose
  • Reinforced cross-section — resists flex where thin-walled quad rails give
  • Steel barrel nut — shared with the KMR and MCMR series, holds position under heat
  • Five lengths, 7" to 12" — from a compact front end to near-full-length rail coverage

What the QRF fits

Fits AR-15/M4 upper receivers, including UK straight-pull AR-15 builds, and is supplied with its own steel barrel nut — so fitting means removing the existing handguard and barrel nut, not sliding a new tube over the old one. The handguard must clear your gas block along its full length, so measure from the receiver face to the front of the block before choosing a length. Shorter tubes suit pistol- and carbine-length gas with a low-profile block; 10" and 12" cover mid-length systems. Bear in mind the QRF is the heaviest of BCM's free-float tubes for a given length — that is the cost of full rail coverage, and if you do not need rail on every face, an M-LOK tube saves several ounces.

Compatibility & Fitment

Fits AR-15/M4 upper receivers, including UK straight-pull AR-15 builds. Supplied with a steel barrel nut, which replaces the existing barrel nut. The handguard must clear the gas block along its full length — measure from the receiver face to the front of the gas block before choosing a length.

Please confirm platform, interface and fitment requirements before ordering.

Product Questions

What is the difference between the QRF and BCM's M-LOK handguards?
The QRF carries fixed 1913 Picatinny rail on all four faces, so anything with a Picatinny clamp mounts anywhere without an adapter. BCM's MCMR and RAIDER use M-LOK slots instead, which are slimmer, lighter and more comfortable to hold, but need a rail section fitting where you want Picatinny. Choose the QRF if you mount a lot and want to move it around; choose M-LOK if you mount little and want a slim tube.
How much heavier is the QRF?
At 12" the handguard alone is 15.1 oz (430 g), against 8.2 oz (230 g) for a 13" MCMR. Mounting hardware adds 2.3 oz (65 g) either way. That weight buys continuous rail on four faces; if you only mount a light and a sling point, an M-LOK tube gives you the same free-float benefit for roughly half the mass.
Does it free-float the barrel?
Yes. The QRF clamps to a steel barrel nut at the receiver and touches nothing forward of it, so sling tension, bipod load and hand pressure never reach the barrel. That is what separates it from a drop-in quad rail that clamps to the front sight base at one end and the delta ring at the other.
Which length fits my rifle?
Measure from the upper receiver face to the front of the gas block. The tube must clear the block completely. On carbine gas with a low-profile block, 7" to 10" is the usual answer; mid-length gas typically takes 10" or 12". Actual lengths are 7.24", 8.00", 9.24", 10.36" and 12.62", which is slightly longer than the nominal size in each case.
