Product Overview

The Timney 650ST is a two-stage replacement trigger with a straight shoe for the Ruger Precision Rifle.

Match discipline for the Ruger Precision Rifle — an 8 oz (225 g) first stage, a 1 lb (455 g) break, and Timney's name behind both.

The Timney 650ST gives the Ruger Precision Rifle a genuine two-stage match trigger: 8 oz (225 g) of smooth, deliberate first-stage take-up, then a crisp 1 lb (455 g) second-stage break through a straight shoe. Two-stage control is precisely what a chassis rifle wants — load the first stage as the reticle settles, then commit through a break light enough to never disturb the sight picture.

The straight shoe encourages a consistent, low finger position and a straight-to-the-rear press. Like every Timney since 1946, the 650ST is hand-assembled, calibrated and tested before shipping — a drop-in upgrade for the RPR's already capable platform.

Why shooters choose the 650ST

  • True two-stage match pull — 8 oz (225 g) take-up, 1 lb (455 g) break
  • Straight trigger shoe — consistent finger position, straight press
  • Purpose-built for the Ruger Precision Rifle — a matched upgrade
  • Hand-assembled and tested — Timney has built triggers since 1946

What the 650ST fits

Fits the Ruger Precision Rifle as a direct drop-in replacement for the factory trigger. It is specific to that chassis rifle and is not an AR-pattern unit. Bench installation follows the supplied instructions; verify function and safety before live fire.

Product Questions

Will the 650ST fit my Ruger Precision Rifle?
It is built specifically for the Ruger Precision Rifle and drops into the factory trigger position. It is not a Remington 700 pattern unit, so it should not be used to replace triggers in other actions. If your rifle has already been rebuilt or rechassised, check the trigger pocket or contact us before ordering.
What does the two-stage design give me on a precision rifle?
You get a light 8 oz (225 g) first stage that you can take up and hold, then a 1 lb (455 g) second stage that breaks. On a rifle used for slow, deliberate shots that makes the break very predictable, because you are already loaded against the wall before the shot goes. It is a considerably lighter arrangement than most factory triggers.
Why the straight shoe?
The 650ST uses a straight shoe, which keeps the finger contact point consistent regardless of how high or low you sit in the grip. Precision shooters often prefer that on an adjustable-length chassis rifle, where your reach to the trigger changes with the stock setting. If you want a curved shoe instead, ask us what is available in the range.
Do I need any other parts to run this trigger?
No extra hardware is required beyond what is already in the rifle. Because the pull is a good deal lighter than standard, it suits deliberate range and precision use rather than rough field handling. Other options for bolt guns are grouped under rifle triggers.
What about shipping and returns?
This trigger is sent from the United Kingdom with free tracked UK delivery in 7–10 days, and tracking is emailed when it ships. If it turns out not to suit your rifle, see our returns policy or contact us and we'll help sort it.
