The SureFire M640T Turbo Scout Light Pro (M640T-BK-PRO) is a rifle-mounted LED light built around a turbo head, producing 700 lumens and 70,000 candela.
Candela is the number that matters here. The turbo head trades total output for beam intensity, concentrating the light into a hotspot that reaches 529 metres.
Two 123A lithium cells are supplied and give an hour and a half of runtime. The body is aerospace aluminium with a Mil-Spec hard-anodised finish, 5.5 in (13.9 cm) long with a 1.125 in (2.9 cm) bezel, weighing 4.4 oz (124 g) with batteries in, and rated IPX7. The Scout Light Pro mount fits MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny and M-LOK, and the light is operated from the tailcap.
Lumens describe how much light leaves the head; candela describe how tightly it is focused, and it is candela that decides how far you can identify something rather than merely illuminate it. That makes the M640T the choice for open ground and long hedgerows, where a wide flood beam simply lights the near air. A brighter, wider beam for close and mid-range work is a different light. Remote switching is supported through SureFire's Scout Light switches, so the tailcap need not be the only control.
