The Streamlight ProTac 2.0 is a rechargeable handheld torch producing 2,000 lumens and 17,300 candela for a 262 metre beam, powered by the SL-B50 USB-C battery pack supplied with it.
Two thousand lumens from a torch that still lives in a coat pocket, with a beam balanced between throw and spill rather than tuned to one extreme.
Three output levels run 2,000, 570 and 100 lumens, giving 17,300, 5,000 and 890 candela and beam distances of 262, 142 and 60 metres, for 2.5, 4.5 and 25 hours respectively, with a 4.25 hour strobe. The SL-B50 lithium-ion pack charges over USB-C either inside or outside the light. The body is Type II Mil-Spec anodised aluminium rated IP67 — dust-tight and good for a metre of water for 30 minutes — tested to 2 metres of impact, at 6.10 in (15.49 cm) and 8.25 oz (233.9 g).
TEN-TAP programming lets you choose the output and mode sequence rather than accepting a fixed one, and the tactical tail-cap switch gives momentary or constant-on. It is a general-purpose torch for yard checks, lamping, night walking and professional use; at 8.25 oz it is a substantial thing to carry, and the highest setting is a 2.5 hour proposition rather than an all-night one.
