The Magpul MOE RL Carbine Stock (MAG1440) wraps the cheek weld surface in soft rubber overmould, turning the hardest contact point on a rifle into the most comfortable. Long strings, heavy calibres and cold-weather shooting all become noticeably more pleasant when your cheekbone rests on rubber rather than bare polymer — and the added friction keeps your face indexed in exactly the same place, mount after mount.

What does the MOE RL fit?

It fits AR15/M4 rifles with a Mil-Spec-diameter carbine receiver extension. Commercial tubes are a larger diameter and won't take it, so confirm which you have before ordering. Fitting is a straightforward swap on the buffer tube.

What's different about the RL?

The RL is the rubber-overmoulded version of the MOE carbine stock, with a soft cheek weld surface and buttpad moulded onto the body. That gives you more grip against the shoulder and a kinder cheek contact than bare polymer, which is noticeable on a rifle you shoot for long strings. Underneath it's the same simple carbine stock layout.

Does the rubber help with recoil?

The overmoulded buttpad gives a little more cushioning and, more usefully, stops the stock sliding on clothing when you mount the rifle. It's a comfort and grip improvement rather than a recoil pad in the shotgun sense. The rubber also quietens the stock against gear and hard surfaces.

Which finish, and how does it compare with the plain MOE?

Black, Flat Dark Earth and Olive Drab Green are available. The standard MOE Carbine Stock is the plainer and cheaper option if you don't want the rubber, while the RL is worth the step up if comfort at the shoulder matters to you. Both sit in Magpul AR-15 stocks.
